ORCHESTRA

The Rio de Janeiro Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1978 by maestro Florentino Dias.

It is recognized as Public Utility by the State Govermment and by the City Hall, without profitable purposes.

The RJPO performs several options of events, as well as: Special Concerts (in Concert Halls), Didatic and University Concerts (in elementary schools and in universities), and Open Air Concerts (with an ecletic repertoire by composers as Ravel, Gershwim, Strauss, Tom Jobim and so on), that take place in parks, beaches, and poor communities

The administration has a Directory, Controller Consil, honorific distinctions like Patronesses and Patrons, Honor President, and a cultural high society Lady of Honor, besides a Friends Club for common citizens, and a Master Club for Companies.

It is composed by 70 profissional musicians and has been directed by international conductors like Bernard Wahl, Barry Kolman, Ahmed Elsaedi, Filippo Zigante, Fabiano Monica, Alexander Frey, Alvaro Cassuto, Amy Mills and others, with actuactions of many internacional soloists, as Katarina Krpan (pianist) and Renato Francesconi (tenor), for example.
